Our interactions and relationships can be important to our sense of self, belonging, and fulfillment. We can practice what it looks like to show up in ways that bring a sense of ease and satisfaction to your life.
"I don't want to feel this way anymore," is the thought that brought me to start my own journey in therapy. Knowing what it's like to be in the other seat, I want to acknowledge the effort it can take to start or to come back when you feel you need to. I aim to create a space where you feel heard and not judged for what you bring or how you feel.
Clients I see embark on this journey to explore their identities, interactions in relationships, and create environments where sex and intimacy feel good for them. We can explore attachment needs and define what self-intimacy and intimacy with others look like for you. We can move in directions that bring more curiosity about your life, feelings of empowerment in relationships, and help you become more courageous in seeking experiences that feel aligned with your desires.
We can slow down together to listen to the messages from your emotions, body sensations, fantasies, experiences, imagination, and more. Some of this can require broadening your tolerance for emotional experiences. To do this, I draw mainly from the experiential methods of Emotionally Focused Therapy or Internal Family Systems for parts work. I believe you are the expert in your experience, so my goal is to move with you in sorting out what's being communicated.
As a systemic therapist, I consider the interconnectedness of your relationships, behaviors, and interactions with the world. My learnings come from my Bachelor's degree in Learning and Organizational Change with a minor in psychology from Northwestern University and Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. We can be complicated beings, so I believe observing our many selves can help us understand the broadness of who we are, how we developed our values, and when we show up as these parts.
Therapy can be the regular touch point that supports the changes you're making in your daily life. None of us may know what will show up in each session, but there will always be space to laugh, cry, breathe, and slow down to listen to what comes next.
